Miami Lakes will host its second-annual Fourth of July celebration since becoming a town, organized by the Cultural Affairs Committee. The festivities will be at Miami Lakes Park West, which is at Montrose Road (Northwest 82nd Avenue). ...Also on the ticket is Treble in Paradise, a female vocal duo who have stolen the hearts of their audiences. The duo is made up of Lu McKinnon-White and Iraida Ortiz-Davis.

IRAIDA BIO Iraida, a native New Yorker, began singing in a choral group as a child. She is known for her smooth song styling and high energy performances and is a local crowd pleaser in the Fort Lauderdale and Miami areas. She is equally comfortable performing in English and Spanish, which especially suits her repertoire to South Florida audiences. She has sung with Johnny Contardo of Sha Na Na and in June 2004, she was first runner up in the Majic 102.7 FM Superstar Contest, which was judged by a panel of music business professionals and performers. She also sings for corporate events, festivals, oldies shows, the Sea Escape Cruise line, and private parties. Additionally she does benefits for the American Cancer Society and Greyhound Rescue. LU BIO Lu was born in Newark, New Jersey and has been singing as long as she can remember. She studied voice for five years under Karen Rassler, a principal at the University Center of the Performing Arts in Fort Lauderdale, Florida In June 2004, she won the Majic 102.7 FM Superstar Contest, chosen from over a thousand entrants and judged by a panel of music business professionals and performers. Lu has opened for Frankie Valli and Eddie Cornelius and she has sung with Johnny Contardo of ShaNaNa. She has also sung with renowned classical musicians including members of the Florida Philharmonic Orchestra. She has recently had the privilege of working with Sonny Mange, bandleader of The Sonny Mange Orchestra. Sonny and his orchestra were the house band for nine years at the Fontainebleau on Miami Beach, accompanying Frank Sinatra, Sammy Davis, Jr., Robert Goulet, Bob Hope, and Perry Como among others. Lu feels truly honored to work with him. She sings for wedding ceremonies, corporate events, conventions, Oldies shows, and Holiday parties. She also donates her voice to her church, St. Gregory the Great in Plantation and numerous local charities. |
